9	Remove the end cover (8)	 For this purpose, unscrew 8 bolts (7).
		 Installation: Oil contact surface on crankshaft with engine oil. Fix the end cover (8) at the crankcase with dowel pins (10).

10	Remove seal (9) from crankcase	 Installation: Clean sealing surfaces and replace gasket (9). If the new seal (9) protrudes (arrow), the protruding part of the seal (9) must be trimmed down precisely after the end cover (8) is fitted.
	Check
11	Inspect race for wear and galling	 In the as-delivered condition, no race is fitted to the crankshaft. If no race is fitted, or race is damaged:

12	Remove radial shaft sealing ring (6) from end cover (8)	 Installation: Place the end cover (8) on an even base. Drive the new radial shaft sealing ring (6) dry into the end cover (8). The radial shaft sealing ring (6) must lie flush with the end cover (8).
