07.1-240 Removal, reinstallation of injection timing device

Removing, installing vacuum pump (43-618).

Cylinder head cover

remove, install.

Camshaft sprocket bolt (153)

slacken, tighten.

Tightening torque 45 Nm.

Engine

position to 15° ATDC of cylinder 1.

Vehicles with code 62/0 14° ATDC.



The engine must only be cranked in direction of rotation.

Camshaft sprocket (154) and injection timing device (18)	mark with paint relative to timing chain (155).
Chain tensioner	remove, install (05-310).
Camshaft sprocket bolt (153)	unscrew, screw in.
Camshaft sprocket (154)	remove, install.
Locking pin (151)	remove with threaded pin (M6) 116 589 01 34 00 and impact puller 116 589 20 33 0, knock in.
Injection timing device (18)	remove, insert. To do this, push timing chain (155) to the outside. Note If the pulley or bearings of the piston vacuum pump are damaged, check whether the drive flange with cam at the injection timing device (18) is damaged and replace parts, if necessary.
Engine	rotate 1 revolution by hand and check TDC marking of crankshaft-camshaft.
Start of delivery	test (07.1-111, 07.1-112).

Special tools

The assembly cage with the securing bolts on the injection timing device drive is discontinued on engines 601, 602, 603.
