Remove

1

Remove the holder with the brake caliper from the axle

Remove the cap (8) of the wheel hub (5)

Remove the seal (9)

Unlock the safety lock (11) and remove the grooved nuts (10, 12)

Remove the stop washer (13)

Remove the wheel hub (5)

 The brake disk is removed along with the wheel hub (5).

Remove the outer tapered roller bearing (6)

Remove the inner tapered roller bearing (4)

Remove outer ring races of the tapered roller bearings (4, 6) from the wheel hub (5)

 Only if the tapered roller bearings (4, 6) have been replaced.

Remove the seal ring (3)



Check

Check the tapered roller bearings (4, 6)

 Inspect the tapered roller bearings (4, 6) for wear, chippings, or crackings. Bathe the tapered roller bearings (4, 6) in oil and wrap them with a clean, lint-free cloth or in a paper, to protect them up to the moment of assembly.

If any of the tapered roller bearings (4, 6) presents any damage or wear:



Replace this with a new one.

 It is recommended to replace both tapered roller bearings (4, 6) along with their respective outer race rings on the wheel hub (5).

Check the friction surface of the thrust ring (2)

If the thrust ring (2) presents damages or tread grooves on the friction surface:



Replace the thrust ring (2) with a new one.



Install

Install the seal ring (3)

 Use a new seal ring (3). Grease the seal ring (3).

Install the outer tapered roller bearing (6)

 Lubricate with lubricating grease. Apply the specified grease quantity.

Install the inner tapered roller bearing (4)

 Lubricate with lubricating grease. Apply the specified grease quantity.

Install wheel hub (5) with the brake disk


Take care not to damage the seal ring (3) and the axle thread.
Otherwise, damages that require the replacement of the axle may occur.

 Grease the friction surfaces of the thrust ring (2) and seal ring (3).

Install the stop washer (13)

Install the inner slotted nut (12), the safety lock (11) and the outer slotted nut (10)

Adjust the end play of the tapered roller bearings (4, 6) on the wheel hub (5)

Install the cap (8)

 Use a new seal (9).
