1 | Unscrew cap on fuel tank | So that the fuel can flow back into the fuel tank when the threaded cap (1) is unscrewed from the fuel filter housing (5). | |
2 | Detach transverse switch tube | Only on right-hand drive vehicle | |

3 | Unscrew the threaded cap (1) | Only remove the threaded cap (1) with the filter element (3) installed, after the fuel has run out of the fuel filter housing (5). | |
4 | Remove the threaded cap (1) together with the filter element (3) installed | ||
5 | Unclip filter element (3) by pressing out the threaded cap (1) sideways | ||
6 | Pull the dirt collecting container (4) out of the | Ensure that the dirt deposited does not enter the fuel filter housing (5). Do not wipe out the fuel filter housing (5) under any circumstances. | |
7 | Clean threaded cap (1) and dirt-collecting vessel (4) | ||

8 | Replace seal (2) | Grease seal slightly. | |
9 | Insert new filter element (3) into the screw cap (1) | ||
10 | Insert the dirt-collecting vessel (4) in the fuel filter housing (5) | Install components in correct positions. | |
11 | Screw on the threaded cap (1) together with filter element (3) and tighten | | |
12 | Fit on transverse shift tube | Only on right-hand drive vehicle | |

14 | Bleed fuel system | Allow engine to run to do this for at least one minute. The fuel system is bled automatically. | |
15 | When the engine is running check whether fuel escapes from the threaded cap (1), eliminate cause if necessary | ||
