1 Wind a cord around the differential housing several times.

2 Use a  spring balance (03) to determine the pulling force. The measured value must match the specified friction coefficient.

 If the specified value is exceeded or not attained, adjust the friction coefficient
(= preload of the differential bearings) by installing thicker or thinner shims as appropriate.
