Remove license plate number on front bumper

Remove license plate number base on front bumper

Remove additional plastic part (2) on front bumper

Type 164.828

Plastic part (2) is replaced by stainless steel panel (1).

Mark bores (3, 4, 5) on front bumper

Use front stainless steel panel (1) as template and center on bumper.

Make bores (3, 4, 5) in front bumper

Only drill through the outer bumper cover otherwise the electrical lines behind it or the inner bumper cover will be damaged.

8 mm dia. hole

Remove bolts (6) on front bumper

8 bolts (6) should be removed on model 164.8 with engine 272, 273, 642.

5 bolts (6) should be removed on model 164.8 with ENGINE 629.

Loosen front bumper in lower area

So that the accessibility is guaranteed for installing the lock nuts (7).

Install lock nuts (7, 8)

For the bore (5) lift up the outer bumper cover using a plastic wedge and insert the lock nut (8).

Use bar magnet and a screwdriver for the bores (3).

Press front bumper in the lower released area out of the operating range.

Attach stainless steel panel (1) to front bumper

Use new high-quality steel bolts with plastic washer.

All bolts must be moistened over the entire length with quick-action adhesive. One container of quick-action adhesive should be used for 5 vehicles, specify ES 2 Index 05.

Attach front bumper in lower area with bolts (6)

Install license plate number base on front bumper

Mark cutout (A) on rear bumper as per drawing

Make bores in the outer corner points of the cutout (A)

Model 164.8 with AHV USA code 540k, with AHV code 550

Separate out the cutout (A) in the rear bumper

Model 164.8 with AHV USA code 540k, with AHV code 550

Mark bore (9, 10) in rear bumper

Use rear stainless steel panel (1) as a template and center on bumper.

With AHV USA code 540k, AHV code 550 lock the stainless steel panel (1) in position in cutout (A) and center.

Mark bores (9, 10) in rear bumper

Only drill through the outer bumper cover otherwise the electrical lines behind it or the inner bumper cover will be damaged.

Remove two bolts (11) in the rear bumper

Loosen rear bumper in the lower area

So that the accessibility is guaranteed for installing the lock nuts (7).

Install profile (12) with lock nuts (7)

Insert lock nuts (7) in bore holes (9) with profile.

Screw on lock nuts (7) in bore holes (10) from the rear

Attach stainless steel panel (1) on rear bumper

Use new high-quality steel bolts with plastic washer.

All bolts must be moistened over the entire length with quick-action adhesive. One container of quick-action adhesive should be used for 5 vehicles, specify ES 2 Index 05.
