Remove

1

Operate parking brake of vehicle.

Unscrew screw/bolts (1).

 Collect any escaping rear axle oil.

Remove cap (2).

Release collar nut (3).



Remove collar nut (3) from drive pinion shaft (4).

 Claw-type wrench

Lock

Clean drive pinion shaft (4) and contact surfaces of collar nut (3) at countershaft gear (5) so that it is free of grease.

Insert new O-ring (6) into groove on drive pinion shaft (4).

Slide new pressure disk (8) until it contacts countershaft gear (5) on the drive pinion shaft (4).

Coat thread (7) of drive pinion shaft (4) with quick-action adhesive.

Quick-acting adhesive, Loctite 270

Install new collar nut (3) on drive pinion shaft (4) and tighten with prescribed tightening torque.

Secure new collar nut (3).



Install

Clean sealing surfaces at axle through drive housing (10) and at cap (2) so that they are free of grease and coat with sealant.

Sealant, Loctite 5970, 50 ml

Install cap (2) on axle through drive housing (10).

 Cap to axle through-drive housing

Check oil level on axle through drive, and correct if necessary.

15

Do not move vehicle for approx. 1 h.

 This period is required for hardening the quick-action adhesive on the drive pinion shaft (4).
