Warning

Risk of injury to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolantspray. Risk of poisoning from swallowing coolant.

Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.
Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

Check

1

Take coolant sample from bottom of cooler.

Use a transparent sample bottle to remove the coolant sample.

2

Shake the sample bottle and assess the deficiency phase on the basis of discoloration.

If no deficiency phase has been reached,

pour in the coolant again and end the measure.

If deficiency phase (1) or deficiency phase (2) is reached,

Continue with operation step 3.

If deficiency phase (3) or deficiency phase (4) is reached,

continue with operation step 6.

3

Drain at least 8 l of coolant.

Only for precise differentiation between deficiency phase (1) and deficiency phase (2).

4

Insert a white cloth into the filler neck of the coolant expansion reservoir.

Only for precise differentiation between deficiency phase (1) and deficiency phase (2).

5

Assess the deficiency phase from the condition of the coolant expansion reservoir.

Only for precise differentiation between deficiency phase (1) and deficiency phase (2).

If a red message appears in the coolant level display and the coolant expansion reservoir does not exhibit any contamination (A),

the engine cooling system is still in deficiency phase (1). Further action: see LI20.00-N-059869-KR.

If no red message appears in the coolant level display or the coolant expansion reservoir exhibits significant contamination (B),

the engine cooling system is already in deficiency phase (2). Further action: see LI20.00-N-059869-KR.

6

Assess the deficiency phase based on complaints regarding heating output.

Only for precise differentiation between deficiency phase (3) and deficiency phase (4).

If no complaints regarding the heating output have been submitted,

the engine cooling system is still in deficiency phase (3). Further action: see LI20.00-N-059869-KR.

If complaints regarding the heating output have been submitted,

the engine cooling system is already in deficiency phase (4). Further action: see LI20.00-N-059869-KR.
