Service Information: Accident repair in the event of slight damage

 Repair work on the following components is possible after slight accident damage:

 Retaining tabs of the engine compartment paneling on the front axle carrier

 Brackets, mountings of cooling module components

 Slight deformation or deflection on cooling module components

 Deformation on exhaust system tailpipe.

Deformed area on front axle carrier (model 204.9) after the engine compartment paneling has torn away in the area (A) of the radiator support

Damage to the axle carrier can be prevented by deformation of the retaining tabs. Only deformation of the retaining tabs for the engine compartment paneling may be reshaped.

Damage on radiator or condenser

1 Lower radiator support:

In the event of a broken or damaged lower radiator support, the radiator can be repaired with the replacement part

2 Condenser:

broken plastic brackets can be replaced (see EPC).

Deformation on cooling module components

As long as the function and leaktightness of the cooling module components are not impaired, replacement is not mandatory in the event of the following damage:

 slight impressions on the lamella of the radiator, condenser, fuel cooler, steering cooler and charge air cooler

 slight deformation of the mounting brackets (can be repaired by bending back)

 slight deflection of condenser or fuel cooler (can be reshaped)

Deformation of exhaust system tailpipe

If no other damage caused by an accident is visible on the exhaust system, slight deformation of the tailpipe can be repaired.
