"Central key calculation" will be introduced as of DVD 07/2012. This takes place automatically when XENTRY Flash online processes are used. The process shown is only used when the diagnostic system has no online connection. First affected are models 176, 207, 212, 218, 246.
To switch control units to write mode for control unit programming and SCN coding, an unlocking code (key) is required for the control unit concerned. For the purposes of increasing security, in future this must be requested online from Daimler AG central systems. When the diagnostic system is connected to the internet and regular XENTRY Flash online procedures are used, this process takes place automatically and without user intervention.
If the diagnosis system is not connected online, the user is prompted by XENTRY Diagnostics/DAS to request the unlocking code (key) by telephoning the diagnosis User Help Desk "UHD". To do so, the user must supply "UHD" with certain basic information that is displayed in the corresponding XENTRY Diagnostics/DAS screen. The unlocking code must then be entered manually into the system. Only then can programming and SCN coding processes be continued.
Other car and commercial vehicle models and control units will follow in the next months. There are regular notes on the corresponding Star Diagnosis update supplement as to which other control units have been converted.
