As part of warranty checks it has been found that tire valves are being replaced unjustifiably.
More detailed analyses have shown that replacement of tire valves is attributable to the previous use of the wrong valve caps (nickel-plated metal version).
Corrosion is unavoidable due to different materials (valves: aluminum - metal valve caps: nickel-plated). Consequently the valve caps can no longer be dismantled manually.
In order to avoid corrosion, only the plastic version of the valve caps (see pictures) may be used on vehicles with the tire pressure monitoring system (code 470 or 475).
