1 Flange | reference dimension: flange to coolant pump housing 118.5 to 119.5 mm; puller 355 589 00 33 00. |
2 Radial seal | replace, drift 360 589 00 15 00. |
3 Hexagon bolt | 30 Nm. |
4 Seal holder | |
5 Seal | replace. |
6 Grooved ball bearing | grease with universal grease. |
7 Shaft | rub contact surfaces with graphite oil. |
8 Grooved ball bearing | grease with universal grease. |
9 Radial seal | replace, drift 321 589 07 15 00; drift 343 589 02 15 00. |
10 Coolant pump housing | pack with universal grease. |
11 Cassette-type seal | replace. |
12 Impeller | reference dimension: impeller to coolant pump housing flush, max. up to 0.2 mm; gap between impeller and coolant pump housing 0.2 to 1.0 mm. |
13 Gasket | replace. |
14 Hexagon bolt | M8 30 Nm, M10 50 Nm. |

Special tools
Disassembly

1 Pull flange (1) for belt pulley off the shaft.
355 589 00 33 00
2 Remove seal holder (4).
3 Remove radial seal from seal holder (4).
360 589 00 15 00
4 Take seal (5) off the coolant pump housing.
5 Press shaft (7) out of the coolant pump housing and take off the impeller (12).
6 Press large grooved ball bearing (6) and small grooved ball bearing (8) off the shaft.
7 Remove cassette-type seal at coolant pump housing.
8 Remove radial seal from coolant pump housing.

Assembly

1 Install new radial seal into coolant pump housing with drift.
343 589 02 15 00
2 Pack both grooved ball bearings (6, 8) with multi-purpose grease and press on.
3 Install new radial seal in seal holder (4).
360 589 00 15 00
4 Fit seal holder (4) together with radial seal (2) onto shaft, press on flange (1).
Note
Rub contact surfaces of radial seals on shaft with graphite oil (arrow).
5 Push new seal (5) over the grooved ball bearing.
Note
Pack space between both ball bearings with universal grease (arrow).
6 Insert assembled shaft into coolant pump housing.
Note
Do not use any slugging or forcing tools.
7 Screw hexagon bolts (3) tight, 30 Nm.
8 Press in new cassette-type seal (11).

9 Fit impeller (12) over the shaft.
10 Press impeller (12) flush onto the shaft; reference dimension "A" to coolant pump housing edge, max. up to 0.2 mm.
Note
Support only at the shaft (not at flange or at coolant pump housing).
11 Check reference dimension "B", impeller to coolant pump housing: 0.2 to 1.0 mm.
12 Check reference dimension "C", coolant pump to flange face: 118.5 to 119.5 mm.
