GF88.79-P-2002RD | Fold left/right outside mirror, function | 14.1.11 |
MODEL 172.4 with CODE (500) Fold left/right outside mirrors
General function requirements
No overvoltage or undervoltage
Left/right folding outside mirror, general
The left outside mirror (M21/1) and right outside mirror (M21/2) can be folded in and out electrically.
This can be done both automatically as well as manually.
The left front door control unit (N69/1) has the master function during adjustment and transmits the necessary signals to the right door control unit (N69/2) via the interior CAN (CAN-B)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If a new adjustment request is recognized while adjustment is in progress, the adjustment is directly switched to the opposite direction.
The left/right folding outside mirror comprises the following partial functions:
Manual folding in/out, function sequence
Automatic folding in/out, function sequence
Function sequence for automatic fold-out via speed signal
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Function sequence for manual folding in/out
The manual fold-in/out partial function comprises the following subfunctions:
Manual folding in function sequence
Manual folding out function sequence
Additional function requirements for manually folding in
Outside mirror folded out
Circuit 15R ON
Vehicle speed v < 47 km/h
The electronic ignition lock control unit transmits the status of circuit 15 to the electronic ignition lock control unit (N73) and the vehicle speed is transmitted by the instrument cluster (A1) to the door control units via the interior CAN.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Manual folding in function sequence
By actuating the outside mirror fold-in/out switch (S20s9) both outside mirrors can be folded to the garage position.
The left door control unit reads in the status of the outside mirror fold-in/out switch via the left door LIN (LIN B5) and transmits the it to the right door control unit via the interior CAN.
The left door control unit actuates the electric fold-in/out outside mirror motor (M21/1m3) in the left outside mirror.
The right door control unit actuates the electric fold-in/out outside mirror motor (M21/2m3) in the right outside mirror.
The actuation time is t = 5 s.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Additional function requirements for manual fold-out
Outside mirror folded in
Circuit 15R ON
Manual folding out function sequence
The mirror housing can be moved to the driving position by actuating the outside mirror fold-in/fold-out switch.
The left door control unit reads in the status of the outside mirror fold-in/Out switch via the left door LIN and transmits it to the right door control unit via the interior CAN.
The left door control unit actuates the electric fold-in/out outside mirror motor in the left outside mirror.
The right door control unit actuates the electric fold-in/out outside mirror motor in the right outside mirror.
The actuation time is t = 5 s.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Additional function requirements for automatic fold-in/out
Function activated in instrument cluster
Activation of the function is described in detail in the function description "Instrument cluster, function".
Automatic folding in/out, function sequence
The automatic fold-in/out partial function comprises the following subfunctions:
Automatic folding in function sequence
Automatic folding out function sequence
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Additional function requirements for automatic folding in
Circuit 15C OFF
Automatic folding in function sequence
When the vehicle is locked with the central locking (CL) from outside with the transmitter key (A8/1) both outside mirrors are folded in automatically (garage position).
The electronic ignition lock control unit transmits the status of the CL to the door control unit via the interior CAN.
The left door control unit actuates the electric fold-in/out outside mirror motor in the left outside mirror.
The right door control unit actuates the electric fold-in/out outside mirror motor in the right outside mirror.
The actuation time is t = 5 s.
Information on signal flow when locking the vehicle with the CL is described in detail in the function description "Central locking (CL), function".
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Additional function requirements for automatic folding out
Outside mirror folded in
CL locked
Automatic folding out function sequence
Both mirror housings are folded out automatically to the previous position when the vehicle is unlocked with CL with the transmitter key (driving position).
The electronic ignition lock control unit transmits the status of the CL to the door control unit via the interior CAN. Opening the driver door is detected by the left front door rotary tumbler switch (A85s1) in the left door lock (A85). The left door control unit directly reads in the status of the rotary tumbler switch and transmits it to the right door control unit via the interior CAN.
The left door control unit actuates the electric fold-in/out outside mirror motor in the left outside mirror. The right door control unit actuates the electric fold-in/out outside mirror motor in the right outside mirror.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The actuation time is t = 5 s.
If the outside mirrors are still folded in with circuit 15R ON by a previous automatic folding-in procedure, the mirror housings are folded out immediately.
Additional function requirements for automatic fold-out via speed signal.
Outside mirror folded in
Status of circuit 15C changes to circuit 15 On
Function sequence for automatic fold-out via speed signal
At a vehicle speed of v > 47 km/h the outside mirrors are folded out automatically.
The instrument cluster transmits the vehicle speed to the door control units via the interior CAN.
The left door control unit actuates the electric fold-in/out outside mirror motor in the left outside mirror.
The right door control unit actuates the electric fold-in/out outside mirror motor in the right outside mirror.
The actuation time is t = 1 s.
After exceeding a speed of v > 47 km/h is no longer possible to fold in the outside mirrors.
