Function

ETC/"Hi-Pass"

China toll system

Variants of control unit

General

The toll system records survey data on toll roads and transmits them to the toll recording system  e.g. by radio data.

Currently, the ETC toll system in Japan, "Hi-Pass" in South Korea and the toll system in China are supported.

Function requirements

Circuit  15R on

The toll system is switched on.

The toll system can be switched on and off in Japan and South Korea using the multimedia system control. In China, a Bluetooth® connection to the user's smartphone is required to activate the toll system.

Japan, South Korea: The ETC/Hi-Pass card is located in the Dedicated Short-Range Communications (DSRC) control unit.

China: The user carries a smartphone with activated access to the toll system with them. The DSRC control unit establishes a Bluetooth® connection to the user's smartphone.

Function

Data is exchanged between the DSRC control unit and the toll station via the antenna for DSRC.

ETC/"Hi-Pass"

For data to be exchanged between the DSRC control unit and the toll station, the DSRC control unit requires an ETC/"Hi-Pass" card on which user data is stored. The DSRC control unit also stores evidence that fees have already been paid on the ETC/"Hi-Pass" card.

The DSRC control unit forwards messages in the toll system to the media display and to the speaker system via the multimedia system control.

For example, a message can be issued in the following cases:

Payment completed successfully

Fault in the communication with the tollbooth

ETC/"Hi-Pass" card read error

Error with ETC/"Hi-Pass" card reader

ETC/"Hi-Pass" card not accepted

ETC/"Hi-Pass" card not inserted

No detailed information regarding the recent fee payments

The DSRC control unit is not installed ex factory, but is retrofitted in the corresponding countries before delivery. The antenna and the wiring harness are installed ex factory.

China toll system

The Bluetooth® button on the DSRC control unit is used to establish a Bluetooth® connection to the user's smartphone. Display and operation is carried out via the user's smartphone.
