MODEL 639.601 /603 /605 /701 /703 /705 /711 /713 /811 /813 /815 with CODE (EF9) Sound 20 radio
All volume and tone adjustments can be made on the control panel of the radio (Sound 20) (A2). It is necessary to differentiate between audio sources and service sources:
Audio sources are:
CD disk drive
Radio tuner
CD player with changer (A2/6), with code (EP5) CD changer
Service sources are:
Announcement of the traffic information radio channel
Telephone, with code (EH3) Telephone preinstallation
Volume setting
The volume setting is regulated using the rotary pushbutton of the radio (Sound 20) (A2) for each of the selected audio sources.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In addition, the volume can be adjusted separately in all the audio and service areas (e.g. telephone, with code (EH3) Portable CTEL preinstallation, networked, or traffic information radio channel). The volume of the traffic information can be increased or decreased using the "Volume" button.
Using the "Reset" function, predefined settings for all sound parameters, including volume, can be selected and reset to the manufacturer default settings.
Speed-dependent volume control (SDV)
The volume is adjusted to match the background noise inside the vehicle via the speed-dependent volume control and the automatic vehicle interior noise adaptation.
In this case, the speed signal is used as the reference value.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Reducing the volume
If the user presses the "Mute" function key, the audio source currently audible is muted and the CD drive or the CD player with changer (A2/6), with code (EP5) CD changer, is set to pause. The muting function status can also be triggered automatically.
In vehicles with code (EH3) Portable CTEL preinstallation, networked, the radio (Sound 20) (A2) switches to telephone mode when there is an incoming call, and the audio source is muted.
Tone setting
The radio (Sound 20) (A2) has manual tone settings (bass, treble, balance, fader) available for each audio source.
The screen of the radio (Sound 20) (A2) shows the bass tone setting first displayed. The bass and treble settings are altered using the "Notes" button, the balance (left and right) and fader (front and rear) settings using the "Speakers and arrows" button.
The volume control always refers to the function that is currently active. If the tone emphasis is changed (balance, fader) the volume relationship between the individual speakers changes relative to each other. The balance and fader adjustments can be changed by pressing the main function key for sound distribution in the left control panel. The processing of the signals required for the volume and tone adjustments is performed by the radio (Sound 20) (A2).
