Location
The fuel filter (1) is located at the front left on the engine front side.

Task
In the fuel filter (1), the fuel delivered by the fuel pump is cleaned before it is forwarded to the single injection pumps for cylinders 1 to 6 (Y600 to Y605). A throttle in the fuel filter (1) also prevents the formation of vapor locks when the engine is switched off.

Function
The fuel delivered by the fuel pump passes over the fuel filter inlet 2 (KE2) into the fuel filter housing (2). Via the fuel filter inlet 1 (KE1), fuel is added from the leak fuel channel of the nozzle holder assemblies and from the fuel return channel of the single injection pumps.
The pressurized fuel flows from the outside through the fuel filter element (6) and is thereby cleaned.
It then flows via the fuel filter outlet 1 (KA1) in the fuel return line to the fuel tank and via the fuel filter outlet 2 (KA2) in the fuel feed channel to the single injection pumps.
The dirt pot (7) under the fuel filter element (6) retains coarse contaminants.
