Operation
The gear selector lever comprises a set of switches (S1, S2, S3, S4, S5 and S8), whose combination informs the valve unit on which gear should be engaged. Each gear position in the selector lever always actuates two switches which in turn, drive the valves controlling the selection and engagement cylinders.
In addition to the switches, the gear selector lever also has a set of three electropneumatic valves (Y11, Y12, Y14) which block movement of the selection lever when the selected gear is not appropriate and unlock the full stroke of the lever when the gear is engaged.
The Y12 valve blocks and controls the lever unlocking, in the direction of gear engagement. When the march is fully engaged this valve releases the travel of the lever.
If the vehicle is above 35 km/h, the easy-shift control electronic unit sends signal to Y14 valve, blocking the selection of 1st and 2nd gears. Similarly, when exceeding the speed of 60 km/h, the easy-shift control electronic unit sends the signal to the valve Y14 and the signal for the first to fourth gear is blocked.
