Y16/2 Heating system shutoff valve

Location

The shutoff valve is located at the rear of the RH cylinder head.

Task

For more rapid heating up of the engine after the cold start, the shutoff valve can close the coolant circuit to the heating system.

Design

The shutoff valve is fitted with a solenoid with a coil resistance of about 12 Ω at 25°C.

Function

The shutoff valve is actuated if necessary by the ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10) by means of a ground signal .

When deenergized, the shutoff valve is opened by the integrated spring.

If the vehicle heating is switched on the shutoff valve is always open (but not actuated).
