W14.20-1052-76
The exhaust gas recirculation cooler (3) consists of an oblong box-shaped housing in which there is an exhaust chamber with coolant ducts passing through it.
Function
The exhaust from the exhaust manifold flows through the exhaust inlet (5) into the exhaust chamber and flows through it and on to the exhaust outlet (6) towards the charge air pipe (2), where it is then fed together with the fresh air or the charged air to the combustion process. This is continuously fed with coolant flowing through it from the engine coolant circuit over the ducts inside the exhaust gas recirculation cooler (3) which is then returned back over the coolant collection strip to the engine. The exhaust gases are cooled through heat transfer between the coolant ducts and the exhaust chamber.
