Function
The ME control unit checks its input and output signals for plausibility and recognizes possible faults.
If a fault is detected, it is displayed via the engine diagnosis indicator lamp or via the CHECK ENGINE fault indicator lamp in the instrument cluster and the fault saved to the fault memory.
Reading out fault memory
The stored faults can be read out and deleted using STAR DIAGNOSIS with
tml. 15 or tml. 61 via the datalink connector.
In line with legal requirements, faults can also be read out at the diagnostic data link connector with a generic scan tool.
After deleting faults, the system must wait for the ME-SFI [ME] control unit to power down after circuit 15 has been switched off.
The fault memory is not erased if the battery (G1) is disconnected.
