Risk of injury caused by fingers being jammed or pinched when removing, installing or aligning hoods, doors, trunk lid/tailgate or sliding roof.

When moving components, ensure that no body parts or limbs are within the operating range of moving parts.

Injury hazard Gas-operated struts are under high pressure and can pinch and crush body parts during work

Only remove and install gas-operated struts in the relaxed position and when the components are secured properly.

Open engine hood (1) and raise to vertical position

Install protective cover on front fender

Remove air inlet duct (2) below engine hood (1).

Remove washer fluid hose (3) from windshield washer system in area of engine hood (1).

Remove gas-operated strut (4)

 Right and left side of the vehicle.

 Remove gas-operated strut (4) only at upper retainer.

Mark position of hood hinge on engine hood (1).

 To facilitate installation.

Remove bolts (5)

 Secure engine hood (1) with aid of helper to prevent damage.



Remove engine hood (1)

 Use aid of helper to prevent damage.Set down on suitable surface.

Install in the reverse order

Adjust engine hood (1)

Repair paint damage on bolts (4) with touchup stick

Check adjustment of windshield washer nozzles, correct if necessary.


