Remove rear end door storage compartment (8)

Remove door paneling (10) on rear end door (3)

Detach electrical connector (9)

Remove license plate lights (E75, E76)

Remove rear end door contact switch (S116)

Drive out roll pin (20)

 Installation: Replace roll pin (20).

Remove locking handle (21)

Remove door catch (12)

 Installation: Observe installation position of tapping plate (14). Check adjustment of door catch (12) in relation to counterpart on D pillar.

 Screw for door hinge on rear-end door

Remove door hinges (6)

Socket wrench bit T40, 70 mm shank length

 Bolt, closing wedge to top of rear door

Remove top closing wedge (4)

Drill out rivets (17)

 Use a 4.8 mm diameter drill bit.

Remove bottom closing wedge (16)

Remove rear end door seal (28) from rear end door (3)

 Installation: Check condition of rear end door seal (28) and replace if necessary.

 Installation: First position rear end door seal (28) flush at top and bottom on rear end door (3) and then press in from outside toward inside.

Remove bolts (22)

Fasten top locking rod (2) to rear end door (3) with suitable tool to prevent falling down

Remove door lock (23)

 Installation: The bolts for the locking rod (23) must engage in the holes (arrows).

 Installation: Slide 6 mm diameter rubber ring onto each bolt on drive locking rod (23) before installing to prevent rattle.

Remove clip (25)

Remove locking rod guides (1, 18, 27)

Remove top locking rod (2) and bottom locking rod (19) together from rear end door (3)

Remove cover (15)

Faceplate on rear end door window

Only when old rear end door (3) is reused.

 The faceplate (15) cannot be removed without damage.

Remove model plate (13) from rear end door (3)

Only when old rear end door (3) is reused.

 The model plate (13) cannot be removed without damage.
