 Warning

Risk of injury from being trapped in the swivel range of steered axles

Ensure that no persons or objects are in the swivel range of all steered axles when turning the steering wheel. Do not stand in the swivel range of the additional steering axle when the engine is running.

Remove/install

1

Move front wheels to straight-ahead position and secure steering wheel in center

Remove upper cover (1) and lower cover (2)

Turn steering wheel by approx. 90° to the right

Unscrew nut(6)

 Installation: Replace nut (6).

 Fit bolt/nut, universal/constant velocity joint

Turn steering wheel approx. 180° to left and secure against twisting

 Fix the steering wheel in place on the support rod using e.g. cable ties.

Mark installation position of upper universal joint (8) to steering shaft of steering column bracket (5)

Remove bolt (7)

 Installation: Replace bolt (7).

Remove upper universal joint (8) together with steering shaft (9) downward

 Installation: Observe markings.

Remove lower steering column trim (4) and boot (3)

10

Install in the reverse order

 Steering wheel, steering column bracket, steering shaft
