2 | Install the test case (1) | ||
Danger! | Risk of accident due to unintentional movement with the engine running. Risk of injury due to crushing and burning in contact during the starting procedure or with motor while running | Assure vehicle against unintentional movement. Wear tight fitting and closed work clothes. Do not touch hot or moving parts. The oil temperature of the steering wheel shall be approximately 50 °C. | |
3 | Start the motor and leave it running in low gear | ||
4 | Read the pressure in low pressure gauge (1.1) of the test case (1) | Measurement scale from 0 to 25 bar. The low pressure gauge shall indicate a pressure below 12 bar. | |

5 | Actuate the lever (1.3) of test case (1), in a brief time (up to 5 seconds), from position “0” to position “I”, read the test pressure in the high pressure gauge (1.2) and immediately return the lever (1.3) to the position "0" | Maximum measurement interval: 5 seconds. Protection against overheating of power steering pump. Measurement scale from 0 to 250 bar. The test pressure depends on the pressure limiting valve in the test case (1). | |
If the test pressure is according to the specification: | |||
Check the flow of power steering pump. | |||
If the test pressure is not reached: | |||
Replace the power steering pump - vehicles with motor 612.983 | |||
Replace the power steering pump - vehicles with motor 904.9, 924.9 and 906.9 | |||
