Banjo bolt of high pressure flexible hose to power steering pump

Remove/install

Remove engine intake air duct upstream of left air filter

Pump off fluid out of the power steering pump's fluid reservoir

 Hand pump

Remove lower engine compartment paneling

Cut tie strap on electrical line of speed-sensitive power steering on hydraulic line

Vehicles with speed-sensitive power steering, (Code 213a).

Unscrew hexagon bolts (15) and torx bolt (17) on heat shield and remove heat shield

Unscrew bolt (3) and remove hydraulic line (1) with high-pressure expansion hose (6) from rack-and-pinion steering

Before opening the hydraulic system the area surrounding the separation point should be cleaned thoroughly. Even the smallest dirt particles, introduced into the hydraulic components, can lead to malfunctions and a total failure of the hydraulic system.

 Seal off line connections with plugs.

Installation: Replace O-rings.

 Bolt, oil line retaining plate to rack-and-pinion steering

Detach high-pressure expansion hose (6) from oil pan by unscrewing bolt (5) and bolt (10) from high-pressure expansion hose bracket

Bolt, high-pressure expansion hose bracket to engine oil pan

Disconnect high-pressure expansion hose (6) from power steering pump

Banjo bolt, high pressure expansion hose to power steering pump

Remove high-pressure expansion hose (6) downwards

Install in the reverse order

Fill power steering pump and bleed

Check function of power steering and for leaks
