Remove/install steering shaft

 	Remove/install
 Danger!	Risk of injury caused by performing testing or repair work on airbag or emergency tensioning retractor units.	Store airbag unit with deployment face up, do not subject to temperatures above 100 °C. When working on these units, disconnect the power supply.	AS91.00-Z-0001-01A
1	Disconnect ground cable from battery
2	Turn steering gear to center position and engage ignition lock	 The position of the steering gear must not be altered again for the entire duration of the work procedure	AR46.20-D-0500-01A
3	Unscrew fitted bolt (1) on universal joint (2)		*000589011000
4	Detach universal joint from drive shaft
		 Installation: Install universal joint on drive shaft.	AR46.10-D-7300-01A

5	Remove steering wheel	Except code SA5, Driver airbag.	AR46.10-D-0100A
		With code SA5, Driver airbag.	AR46.10-D-0100B
6	Remove clock spring contact	With code SA5, Driver airbag.	AR46.10-D-0200A
		 Unscrew retaining bolts just enough to be able to remove the clock spring contact. Do not twist or disassemble the clock spring contact.
7	Remove central electric unit		AR54.25-D-1382B
8	Remove combination switch		AR54.25-D-2800A
9	Unhook pedal springs from clutch and brake pedal on steering column	 For engine 601 unhook pedal spring only from clutch pedal.
10	Undo bolt (4) on steering column bracket		*BA46.10-N-1002-05C
11	Drill out shear-off screw (3) on steering column bracket	Installation: Tighten the bolt until it shears off.
12	Disconnect vacuum lines and electrical connector from ignition lock	Identify vacuum lines.
13	Pull out steering shaft	Installation: Slide steering shaft through cab floor. Check for correct seating in cab floor.
14	Install in the reverse order
