Remove/install thrust pieces with boots when brake caliper is installed

Removal

Remove the brake caliper

Series SN7000 Knorr brake caliper

With the brake caliper without brake pads, cleaned and placed on an appropriate workbench, fully return the threaded tubes (16) turning the clearance adjuster anticlockwise

Remove the bushings from the threaded tube ends (16)

Thoroughly clean the entire area of the internal protectors (22)

The sealing surfaces (X) for SN7000 and (Y) for SB7000, both for the internal extensible protectors, as well as the threaded tubes must not be damaged during protector removal. These parts cant be replaced.

Remove the internal protectors (22) carefully, use a screwdriver without any sharp or cutting edges to do this.

Thoroughly clean the sealing faces (X, Y)



Installing

Install the internal protection boots (22) on the threaded tubes (16) of the pressure parts

Remove the bushing (16.1) from the pressure part

The bushings are not to be lubricated.

Position the pressing tool (L) comprised by K3 + K9 . This will have to be guided over the threaded tube pin (16)

Fully press the protection boot (22) on the respective seat turning hexagon of the tool K3 with an open end wrench

To check the correct installation of the internal protectors (22) turn the clearance adjuster clockwise to advance the threaded tube (16)

During this operation, the internal protector (22) must not rotate.
