Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform.

Align vehicle between columns of vehicle lift and position four support plates at vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer.

Remove rear axle shaft

 Secure wheel carrier against kinking.

Pry left radial sealing ring (3) and right radial sealing ring (2) using suitable tool out of rear axle center assembly (1)

 See illustration.



Install

Press left radial sealing ring (3) and right radial sealing ring (2) using drift (4) into rear axle center assembly (1)

 Replace left radial sealing ring (3) and right radial sealing ring (2).

 Coat sealing lip of radial sealing ring with universal hypoid gear oil.

Replace circlips on inner splined profile of rear axle shafts

Install rear axle shaft

Checking

Check the oil level in the rear axle center assembly (1) and correct if necessary

 The rear axle center assembly (1) is filled correctly when the oil in the rear axle center assembly (1) which is installed reaches up to the bottom edge of the filler opening at room temperature.

 Replace sealing ring of oil filler screw.


