Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.

Remove lock (2) and cut brake cable (1) in center

Unclip brake cable (1) from holder of rear axle carrier

 Snap-release tool

Detach hexagon collar nut (3) of rear axle shaft

 Installation: Replace self-locking hexagon collar nut (3).

 Collar nut from rear axle shaft to rear axle shaft flange

Loosen screw (6) of tie rod (7) at wheel carrier

 Self-locking nut, tie rod to wheel carrier

Unclip wiring harness holder at camber strut and unhook forward (arrows A)


Unclip carefully
as the retaining clips on the wiring harness holder can break.

Loosen nut (4) of camber strut (5) at wheel carrier

Loosen nut (8) of strut rod (9) at wheel carrier

 Self-locking nut, strut rod to wheel carrier

Support wheel carrier with transmission jack and transmission plate

Press rear axle shaft out of the rear axle shaft flange

 Do not damage rubber boot of rear axle shaft.

 Press rear axle shaft together up to end stop in direction of rear axle differential. Swivel wheel carrier forward and outward.

Slightly lower rear axle differential

 Only for rear axle shaft with balance weight

Pull rear axle shaft out of rear axle differential

 Check ball joints and rubber boots for leak tightness and damage.

 Installation: Replace retaining ring of rear axle shaft.

Check plug-in direction of screw of rear axle differential mounting at rear

 Only when installing a new rear axle shaftwithbalance weight, the screw must be plugged infrom rear going forward.

Change plug-in direction of screw of rear axle differential mounting at rear

Only when installing a new rear axle shaft with balance weight or if the plug-in direction is front to back, then loosen rear axle bearing at rear and change the plug-in direction.



Lower rear axle carrier at rear

Support rear axle carrier. Do not loosen exhaust system, propeller shaft.
