Mark position of propeller shaft relative to flange on transfer case and flange (2) on rear axle differential (4)

Remove propeller shaft

Measure and note down total friction torque of drive pinion

Mark position of flange (2) relative to input shaft and rear axle differential housing

Remove hexagon collar nut (1) on flange (2)

 Installation: Replace hexagon collar nut (1).

 Installation: Gradually tighten hexagon collar nut (1) until the measured and noted total friction torque is reached.



Remove flange (2)

Pry radial sealing ring (3) out of rear axle differential (4) using a suitable tool

 Installation: Press the radial sealing ring (3) into the rear axle differential (4) using the drift (5).

 Installation: Coat the sealing lip of the radial sealing ring (3) with universal hypoid gear oil before installing.



Install in the reverse order



Checking

Check oil level in rear axle differential (4) and correct if necessary

 The rear axle center assembly (4) is filled correctly when the oil in the rear axle center assembly (4) which is installed reaches up to the bottom edge of the filler opening at room temperature.

 Replace sealing ring of oil filler screw.


