Remove

Remove propeller shaft.

Remove retaining ring (1).

Clean area surrounding drive flange (2).

Assembly cleaner

Mark position of drive flange (2) relative to input shaft of rear axle differential (5) in color.

 The drive flange (2) and the rear axle differential (5) are balanced with each other.

Pull off drive flange (2) using puller.

 Puller

Check drive flange (2) for damage.

If damage is found,



replace rear axle differential (5).

Remove cover (3).

Pry radial shaft sealing ring (4) out of rear axle differential (5) using a suitable tool.


Do not damage the seat of the radial shaft sealing ring (4) in the rear axle differential (5).
Otherwise leaks may occur.

Clean seat of radial shaft sealing ring (4) in rear axle differential (5).

Assembly cleaner

Check seat of radial shaft sealing ring (4) in rear axle differential (5) for damage.

If damage is found,



replace rear axle differential (5).

Install

Coat inner sealing lip of radial shaft sealing ring (4) with transmission oil.



Universal hypoid gear oils (specification 235.7)

Do not apply any transmission oil to the seat and outer circumference of the radial shaft sealing ring (4).
Otherwise leaks may occur.

 Replace the radial shaft sealing ring (4).

Press radial shaft sealing ring (4) into rear axle differential (5).

Install cover (3).

Grease gearing of drive flange (2).

Molykote paste HTP special lubricating grease

Restore original installation position of drive flange (2) based on colored marking.

Install drive flange (2) using drift.

 Install new retaining ring (1).

Install propeller shaft.
