Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses, if necessary.

AS00.00-Z-0002-01A

1

Remove longitudinal differential axle (4)

AR35.30-B-0491C

2

Fasten the longitudinal differential axle (4) by the body

Do not fasten by the axle's notched region.
It can damage the notched axle.

3

Remove the retaining ring (1) from the bearing cap (3)

Utilize appropriate tool.

4

Remove the bearing cap (3) from the longitudinal differential axle (4)

5

Remove the tapered roller bearings (2) from the longitudinal differential axle (4)

Remove the tapered roller bearings (2) with hydraulic press and appropriate tools.

Remove the tapered roller bearing outer raceway (2) from within bearing cap (3).

Measure

6

Determine the thickness of the retaining ring (1)

AR35.30-B-0457-01A

Assemble

7

Heat the bearing cap (3) to approx. 80°C and install the outer raceway of one of the tapered roller bearings (2)

The mounting must be done quickly, with the bearing cover (3) still warm.
Otherwise the tapered roller bearing raceway (2) will not fit into the bearing cap housing (3).

The raceway conical part must be facing the larger diameter of the bearing cap (3).

8

Heat one of the tapered roller bearings (2) to approx. 80°C and install it on the bounce of the longitudinal differential axle (4)

The conical part of tapered roller bearing (2) must be facing the bounce of the longitudinal differential axle (4).

9

Heat the other tapered roller bearing (2) to approx. 80°C and mount it over the tapered roller bearing (2) already installed

The conic part of the tapered roller bearing (2), must be installed opposite the bearing already mounted.

The raceway of this tapered roller bearing (2) need not be mounted.

Ensure a good seating between the bearings.

10

Install the bearing cap (3) on the longitudinal differential axle (4)

The tapered roller bearing raceway (2) must already be mounted.

Check

11

Check the axial play of the longitudinal differential

Assemble

12

Remove the retaining ring (1) from the bearing cap channel (3)

13

Mount the longitudinal differential axle (4) on the bridge
