Remove

Remove the differential assembly (8) from the axle housing

Install the differential assembly to the mounting stand of the workshop

Remove the interwheel differential lock

Remove the safety plates (2)

Loosen the bolts (3) of bearing cap (4)

Remove the threaded rings (7)

Remove the bearing shells (4)

 Identify the bearing shells (4) relative to the respective bearing bracket.

Identify the tapered roller bearing races (6) regarding the respective tapered roller bearing in the differential (5)

Only if not replacing the tapered roller bearings

Remove the ring gear with differential (5) and the tapered roller bearing races (6) from the differential assembly (8)

Install

Install the races (6) on the tapered roller bearing in the differential (5)

Install the ring gear with differential (5) in the differential assembly (8)

Install bearing cap (4)

 Observe the identification of the bearing shells (4) relative to the respective bearing bracket.

 Each bearing shell (4) will be centered by guide pins (9).

 First, tighten the bolts to the (3) Adjustment torque.

Install the threaded rings (7)

Adjust the end play between ring gear and pinion

Install the screws (3) in the bearing shells (4)

 Apply the Final torque.

Install the screws (1) and the safety plates (2) to the threaded rings (7)

Install the interwheel differential lock

Install the differential assembly (8) on the axle housing
