Remove

Preparing drive pinion for removal

1

Install temporarily a 130mm-diameter (rear axle 743.498) or 165mm-diameter (rear axles 746.9) flange in place of the coupling fork.

2

Loosen the threaded ring from its housing by a few turns with the appropriate claw wrench along with the multiplier torque.

3

Tap on the inner end of the pinion with a soft-material mandrel in order to move it away.

Do not remove the pinion set yet.
To prevent the split ring (B) from falling into the groove (A) in the housing.

Repeat it until the threaded ring is completely loose.
