Warning | Risk of injury. Moving parts can pinch, crush or, in extreme cases even sever extremities. | No parts of the body or limbs should be within the operating area of mechanical components when moving components.
Danger | Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. | Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.
Topical note | Notes on self-locking nuts and bolts
1 | Secure vehicle on vehicle lift
Lift to half height | |||
2 | Remove rear wheel | ||
| |||
3 | Unclip wiring harness bracket (3) from camber strut (1) and slightly pull forward (arrows A) | Do not damage wiring harness bracket.
4 | Mark position of eccentric disk (5) using a colored pencil (arrow B) | The marking on the eccentric disk serves for approximate positioning (original adjustment) of camber strut (1) during assembly.
5 | Unscrew self-locking nut (4), remove screw (6) on rear axle carrier
6 | Unscrew self-locking nut (9), remove screw (10) on wheel carrier
7 | Remove camber strut (1)
| Install | ||
8 | Insert camber strut (1) | Note the installation position!
9 | Insert screw (6) on rear axle carrier and screw on a new self-locking nut (4) | Replace screw (6) if screw length is greater than 65 millimeters.
The screw head points the direction of travel. Align eccentric disk (5) to previously-made marking.
Do not yet tighten self-locking nut!
10 | Insert screw (10) on wheel carrier and screw on a new self-locking nut (9)
Topical note | Notes on installing brake hoses
The screw head points the direction of travel. Arrange dog bone washer (7) and brake hose clip (8) into position shown (arrow C). The rpm sensor line (12) must be routed as shown and be clipped into the holder (11).
Do not yet tighten self-locking nut!
11 | Lift wheel suspension with telescoping transmission jack and transmission plate under supporting joint until the wheel suspension is sprung on the vehicle level | In doing so, the elastomer bearings of the wheel suspension are brought into the neutral position.
12 | Tighten self-locking nut (9) | Self-locking nut, camber strut to wheel carrier
13 | Tighten self-locking nut (4) | Self-locking nut, camber strut to rear axle carrier
14 | Lower wheel suspension using telescoping transmission jack and remove telescoping transmission jack | Lower wheel suspension slowly!
15 | Attach wiring harness bracket (3) to camber strut (1) | The wiring harness bracket must be clipped in correctly.
16 | Mount rear wheel and tire assembly
| |||
17 | Lower vehicle and remove vehicle lift safety device
18 | Perform wheel alignment check |
