Topical note | Notes on self-locking nuts and bolts | Todos os modelos.
1 | Remove the drag axle |
| |
2 | Loosen the nut (1) from the pin (3) of the lower transverse arm | To loosen the nut (1) heat it using a suitable heat gun.
Torque multiplier | |||
3 | Remove the washer (1.1)
4 | Mount the combined insertion and extraction tool into the transverse arm housing and push the pin (3) out | When mounting the combined insertion and extraction tool, make sure that the clamping plates and hydraulic pump flange are parallel to each other.
Combined press-in and knock-out tool
Hand pump | |||
Hydraulic hose (complete)
5 | Remove the retainers (4, 12), tapered roller bearings (6, 10), spacer sleeve (7) and offsetting washer(s) (9) from the linking bracket (8)
6 | Remove the removal/installation device and remove both the transverse arms (2) with the spring washers (5, 11)
| Clean | ||
7 | Clean tapered roller bearings (6, 10), washers, pin (3); Check condition and replace damaged parts if necessary
Adjustment | |||
8 | Place two pressure sleeves (15.1), the spring washer (5), the tapered roller bearing (6) and the spacer sleeve (7) on the adjustment mandrel (15) | The rounded side of the spring washer should be supported on the tapered roller bearing.
Drift | |||
9 | Insert the mounting mandrel (15) with the preassembled components on the hole of the linking bracket (8) bearing | Insert the mounting mandrel (5) on the linking bracket (8) hole, in the vehicle's travel direction.
Drift | |||
10 | Opposite from the mounting mandrel (15) side, insert the offsetting washer(s) (9), the tapered roller bearing (10) with the spring washer (11) and the nut (1) | The rounded side of the spring washer should be supported on the tapered roller bearing.
When testing, use the nut (1) and offsetting washer(s) (9) of the removed transverse arm bearing.
Drift | |||
11 | Tighten the nut (1) to the prescribed torque | When tightening the nut, move the transverse arm bearings several times in both directions.
Transverse support in the connection support
Torque multiplier | |||
12 | Check the cross-arm bearing pivot moment in both directions | Once the prescribed cross-arm bearing pivot moment is reached, loosen the nut and remove all components from the linking bracket (8) and the adjustment mandrel (15).
To determine the cross-arm bearing pivot moment, use a torque wrench with a clock.
.Transverse bearing articulation moment
If the measured cross-arm bearing pivot moment does not match the specified value:
| |||
Readjust with the appropriate trim washer(s) (9).
| Install | ||
13 | Mount the bearing tapered roller (6) on the linking bracket (8) together with the spring washer (5), until it stops | Install the spring washer (5) with grease on the retainer.
The rounded side of the spring washer (5) should be supported on the tapered roller bearing.
Grease, DB supply specification 6804 - Class 267.0
14 | Install the radial retainer (4) | The closed side of the radial retainer (4) should be supported on the tapered roller bearing.
15 | Mount the spacer sleeve (7), offsetting washer(s) (9), tapered roller bearings (10) and spring washer (11) on the opposite side | Install the spring lock washer (11) with grease on the retainer.
The rounded side of the spring lock washer (11) should be supported on the tapered roller bearing.
Grease, DB supply specification 6804 - Class 267.0
16 | Install the radial shaft sealing ring (12) | The closed side of the radial shaft sealing ring (12) should be supported on the tapered roller bearing.
17 | Install the guide mandrel (14) at the end of the pin (3) of the transverse arm | Drift
18 | Align the transverse arms (2) in the linking bracket (8) hole and insert the guide mandrel with the pin (3) | Insert the guide mandrel with the pin (3) in the linking bracket (8) hole, in the vehicle's travel direction.
Drift | |||
When inserting the guide mandrel:
| |||
Align the trim washer(s) (9) and spacer bushing (7) inside the hole.
19 | Mount the combined insertion and extraction tool into the cross-arm housing and push the pin (3) to the stop | When mounting the combined insertion and extraction tool, make sure that the clamping plates and hydraulic pump flange are parallel to each other.
Combined press-in and knock-out tool
Drift | |||
Hand pump | |||
Hydraulic hose (complete)
20 | Tighten the nut (1) together with the washer (1.1) to the prescribed torque | Use a new nut. Apply a chemical lock to the nut thread. The nut should be supported on the spring washer.
