Remove
1 | Unscrew the threaded ring using the claw type wrench together with the torque multiplier. |
In order to prevent deformation of the flange deflector, unscrew the threaded ring by a few turns and then move the pinion away by striking its inner side with a soft mandrel. Repeat the procedure until the threaded ring becomes completely unscrewed. |
B33.30-0001-02
Unscrew only the threaded ring; the pinion must be removed alongside the coupling flange.
Otherwise, the split ring (B) mounted on the tapered roller bearing outer rail may fall into the groove (A) inside the housing.

2 | Screw 2 temporary bolts into the coupling flange to attach the threaded ring to the external bearing cap. |
3 | Remove the pinion by striking its inner side with a soft mandrel. |

4 | Withdraw from the axle housing the compensation washers for the basic depth adjustment of the pinion. |
5 | Place the compensation washers into the internal seating of the housing. |
If the tapered roller bearing on the pinion tip is damaged or worn out: | |
| |
If necessary, replace it. |
Install
B33.30-0003-01
6 | Screw 2 bolts into the coupling flange to attach the threaded ring to the external bearing cap. |
7 | Install the pinion with the help of a plastic hammer. Apply sealant to the threaded surface of the ring . |
First insert the plastic bushing, previously used for removal, in the outer race of the roller bearing installed in the axle housing. The bushing will be expelled by the installation of the pinion. |

8 | Screw the threaded ring onto the housing and tighten it with the force moment specified using the claw type wrench together with the torque multiplier. |
