Remove the axle sleeve (26) to the beam handle



Check

Check axle sleeve (26)

 Carefully check the axle sleeve for damage, cracks and wear. Check the eccentricity of bearing seats.

 It is not permissible to straighten or align the axle sleeve. Replace the axle sleeve when needed.

Disassembling and assembling the axle sleeve

 Make repairs, if necessary.

Install

Install the axle sleeve

 On the shafts 732.5 an iron ring (9) and a brass sleeve (8) (thrust bearing bush) on both sides, right and left are mounted for axial support of the axle sleeve.

 On shafts 733.8, for vehicles with left-hand drive, for axial support of the axle sleeve, a steel ring (9) and a brass sleeve (8) on the left side and a thrust roller bearing (10) on the right side. In vehicles with right-hand drive, the steel ring and the brass sleeve are mounted on the right side and the roller thrust ring is mounted on the left side.

Adjust the end play of the shaft sleeve

 Use a compensating washer with appropriate thickness to adjust the end play of the shaft sleeve.

Center the shaft sleeve with the axial support pieces and the compensating washer selected using the  guide diver

Heat the beam handle at 150 °C at most, using a heating blower

 Alternatively, the mounting can be done by cooling the kingpin with liquid nitrogen in a cooling box. In this case, use thermal gloves or a magnetic bracket to mount the kingpin.

 On shafts 732.51, observe that the kingpin is asymmetric and that the shorter side of the pin should be mounted upwards.



Insert the kingpin through the housing in the stub axle and axle beam handle until the pin groove is aligned with the hole for mounting the screw lock

 Observe that the kingpin, the axial support pieces of the axle sleeve and the pin housing in the axle sleeve and in the front axle beam handle should be thoroughly clean, dry and free of oil or grease.

Install the lock screw and tighten the lock nut



Install the seal ring and cover in the upper part and the lower part of the axle sleeve

Replace the covers and seal rings.

Install the lock ring in the upper part and the lower part of the axle sleeve

Right after installing the axle sleeve, grease it under pressure until the grease comes out between the axle sleeve and the front axle beam handle.

Install the connecting arm and the steering arm
