Removal, installation

1

Remove front wheels.

To remove the upper shock absorber mounting, clamp the spring.

Install clamping plates (01b, 01c) and clamping unit (01a).



Risk of injury from being trapped or crushed when working on preloaded springs or spring bodies

Only use approved clamping devices and if appropriate also screen off the danger area.

Check special tools for damage and function, (visual inspection).

Wear safety gloves.

Clamp, unclamp front spring.

Remove upper spring strut mounting.



 Replace self-locking nut (11a)

Unclip clips (A) for ABS speed sensor cable on bracket (B).

Remove cable (C) on bracket (B).

Unscrew spring strut (11) on steering knuckle (33) and remove.

 Installation:  Replace bolts (11i) and self-locking nut (11u).

 Install and slightly tighten upper bolt (11k) until the surface of the steering knuckle abuts the spring strut on the inside.

Tighten bolts (11i) and then tighten upper bolt (11k).

Using a suitable hook (arrow), secure steering knuckle (33) to prevent it from tilting away.

 Do not subject brake hose and electric cables to tension.

Remove rubber mount (11c).

In accordance with the repairs that are stipulated, e.g. accident repair.
 Installation: Replace self-locking nut (11d).



Checking

Check parts (11h, 11f and 11e) for damage.


 Installation: Attach boot (11f) to rubber mount (11c).

Check spring strut.

Install in reverse order.

Perform chassis alignment check.
