| Preliminary information | ||
1 | The current legislation demands that the height from the ground to the top face of the first stair step at bus doors follows a stipulated measurement. | To establish this measurement in the bodybuilding it is necessary that the vehicle is adjusted as it left the factory, however, the body maker will need to have a complete perception of the vehicle heights and of the measuring points considered.
2 | There are three height stages within the driver's control. | Normal height, Upper height and Lower height.
Definition of the heights in the front axle:
3 | The measurements defined for the adjustment of the front axle pneumatic suspension are called H1 . | They are to be measured (on both vehicle sides) between the front axle surface and the surface of the structure side rail (at the points indicated by arrows).
Normal height H1. | Is the normal vehicle operating height.
Upper height H1. | Is the upper height at which the vehicle can operate on irregular road surface.
Lower height H1. | Is the height utilized for passengers getting on and off the vehicle.
Definition of the heights in the rear axle:
4 | The measurements defined for the adjustment of the rear axle pneumatic suspension are called H2 . | They are to be measured (on both sides of the vehicle) between the upper part of the fastening clamps of the bellows support on the rear axle and the surface of the structure side rail (at the points indicated by arrows).
Normal height H2. | Is the normal vehicle operating height.
Upper height H2. | Is the upper height at which the vehicle can operate on irregular road surface.
5 | Lower height H2. | Is the height utilized for passengers getting on and off the vehicle.
Body building, height from the ground to the first door stair step
6 | The current legislation demands that the height from the ground to the top face of the first stair step at bus doors follows a stipulated measurement. | Front door.
Rear door. | |||
7 | On vehicles with assembled body, observe the following recommendations and procedures:
8 | Heights of the suspension | In the body building of vehicles fitted with electropneumatic suspension with ENR system (ECAS), it is not necessary to perform the height adjustment of the pneumatic suspension due to the preset calibration in the original factory assembly.
9 | Connect the ECU valve. | After body building completion, it is necessary to connect the wiring to the ECU valve and to correctly accommodate the respective electric wiring harness.
10 | Level sensor actuation rods. | After connecting the ECU valve there should be no modifications to the length of the lever sensors actuation rods.
Attention! | In the case of modification or disassembly of the level sensor actuation rods during the body manufacture. | A fault will be detected in the system after engine startup, in the case the length of a level sensor rod has been modified or any rod was removed. These procedures cause the loss of the vehicle's electronic module calibration.
11 | To correct the problem, the following operations will have to be carried out: | Adjust the heights of the electropneumatic suspension with ENR system (ECAS).
12 | Check for any traces of air pressure leakage at the connections or pneumatic bellows with neutral glycerin soap foam or some other appropriate product for this purpose. | Normal soap foam is not to be utilized since it contains sodium hydroxide that corrodes the materials.
13 | If possible, perform a vehicle test drive. | Check the vehicle behavior. If necessary, reconfirm the height measurements and make the corrections needed. |
