Remove

Secure vehicle on vehicle lift

Support rear axle using major assembly support

Unscrew nuts (6) and remove both spring U-bolts (1) and spring plate (2)

Unscrew nut (3), remove bolt (5) and detach rear axle spring (4) from front spring bracket

Unscrew nut (9), remove bolt (10) and detach rear axle spring (4) with spring shackle (7) from rear spring bracket

Lower rear axle and remove rear axle spring (4) with spring shackle (7)


Carefully lower rear axle.
Otherwise, the brake hoses will be damaged.

Unscrew nut (11), remove bolt (8) and detach spring shackle (7) from rear axle spring (4)



Check

Check bushings in rear axle spring (4) and spring shackle (7)

For damage or wear



Replace bearing bushings in rear axle spring (4) or spring shackle (7).

Install

Position spring shackle (7) on rear bearing eye of rear axle spring (4) using bolt (8) and nut (11) and adjust installed dimension of rear axle spring (4)

 The small bearing eye on the rear axle spring (4) is installed in the direction of travel at the rear.

 Replace nut (11).

Position rear axle spring (4) on front spring bracket and tighten bolt (5) with nut (3) lightly by hand

 Replace nut (3).

Position spring shackle (7) on rear spring bracket and tighten bolt (10) using nut (9) lightly by hand

 Replace nut (9).

 Pay attention to correct seat of center bolt in the mounting hole of the rear axle.

Position spring plate (2) and spring U-bolt (1) on rear axle spring (4) and tighten nuts (6)



 Replace nuts (6).

 After a driving distance of 500 to 1000 km, the nuts (6) on the spring U-bolts (1) have to be retightened.

Tighten nuts (3, 9) on front and rear spring bracket


The nuts (3, 9) must be tightened in with the suspension in compressed state.
Otherwise, the bearing bushings will be damaged.
