| Remove/install | ||
1 | Open liftgate | ||
2 | Fold down bumper cover
3 | Open lower maintenance flap (7) at the right rear on the vehicle
4 | Raise vehicle | ||
5 | Detach lower engine compartment paneling | Only remove engine compartment paneling in the area of the radiator unit (4).
6 | Close shutoff valves for cooling system | See Operator's Manual
Danger! | Risk of injury to skin or eyes caused by hydraulic fluid spraying out under high pressure. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing hydraulic fluid | Depressurize hydraulic system completely before starting any work on system. Wear protective clothing and safety glasses.
7 | Drain hydraulic fluid
| Hydrostatic fan drive - oil and filter change | ||
Danger! | Risk of injury to skin and eyes caused by scalding from contact with hot coolant spray. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing coolant. | Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90°C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers. Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.
8 | Drain coolant | Installation: Pour in coolant.
| |||
| Notes on coolant | All engines | |
9 | Remove charge air cooler (1)
10 | Remove coolant pipes | Only remove the coolant pipes and coolant hoses needed to be able to remove the radiator unit (4).
11 | Disconnect electrical connector at proportioning valve (2)
12 | Detach hydraulic lines from proportioning valve (2) | Installation: Clean sealing surfaces, replace gaskets.
13 | Detach hydraulic motor (3) from proportioning valve | Installation: Clean sealing surfaces, replace gaskets.
14 | Shim and support the radiator unit (4) with major assembly lifting device | If necessary:
Remove hydraulic oil cooler
Engine support device, Engine lifting fixture gotis://A_01_09.0
15 | Remove radiator unit (4) from upper bracket (6)
16 | Detach support of radiator unit (5) from vehicle frame and remove radiator unit (4)
17 | Install in the reverse order
| Checking | ||
18 | Check coolant hoses and coolant pipes for leaks, undamaged condition as well as routing free of chafing points
19 | Inspect charge air hoses, charge air pipes for proper condition and leaktightness
Danger! | Risk of accident caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the engine as it is running | Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving off by itself.
20 | Start engine, run and inspect all hose and line connectors for leaks
21 | Check coolant level, adjust to correct level if necessary. | At a coolant temperature of about 50°C.
| Correct engine cooling system liquid level Correct corrosion/anti-free protection |
