 Warning

Risk of injury to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolantspray. Risk of poisoning from swallowing coolant.

Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.
Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

Remove/install

Drain off coolant

Remove front bumper

Remove charge air hose downstream of the charge air cooler

Remove charge air hose upstream of charge air cooler from charge air cooler

Unhook cable (1) of hood latch and place to one side

Remove upper lock carrier (2) from front module crossmember

 To do this, remove screws/bolts (3).

Remove crossmember beneath bumper together with lock carrier (2)

Unlock upper locks of radiator package (4)

Disconnect electrical connection (5)

Unhook radiator package (4)


Do not put lines and hose under tension.
Damage may occur otherwise.

 A helper is required.

Fold radiator package (4) forwards

Remove coolant line (6) from thermostat housing

 Installation: Check lock of coolant line (6).

Depending on findings



Replace coolant line (6).

Remove coolant line (6)

 To do this, unlock securing clamp, and remove coolant line (6) from expansion reservoir (7).

Install in the reverse order



Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Check for leaktightness with engine running

 Visual inspection only.
