Remove/install oil filter housing

Remove and install

Disconnect the battery leads.

Remove the drive belt stretching device

Unscrew the oil filter cap (7.2) from the oil filter housing (7)

When unscrewing the filter cap (7.2), oil will flow to the oil pan.



Remove the intake air pipe (11)

Installing: Clean and check the intake pipe (11) for condition. If necessary, replace it.

Detach the connector (12) from the oil pressure and temperature sensor (B14).

Remove the oil pressure and temperature sensor (B12)

Installing: Check the O-ring (1) for condition. If necessary, replace it.



Remove the bolt (3) on the support (4)



Unscrew the bolt (2) and move the alternator (G2) away from the filter housing (7)



Remove the oil pressure pipe (8) from the filter housing (7)

Catch the oil running off.

Installing: Replace the sealing rings.

Remove the filter cap (7.2)

Catch the oil running-off the filtering element (7.1).

Check the filtering element (7.1) for condition. If necessary, replace it.



Replace filter element

Installing: Check the sealing rings (7.3) in the filter cap (7.2) for condition. If needed, replace them.

Remove bolts (5, 6) from the oil filter housing (7).



Remove the housing (7) from the engine block

Catch the oil running off.

Remove the gasket (10) from the oil filter housing (7)

Installing: Replace the gasket (10).

Install in reverse order

Check the engine oil level

If necessary, replenish, using oil of the same brand and type than the present one, up to reaching the maximum level. The oil level should be checked with the vehicle parked on leveled ground. Under no circumstances should the oil level exceed the maximum oil level mark on the dipstick.

Make sure the gearbox is in neutral.

Wear suitable clothing and pay attention to hot and moving engine parts.

Let the engine idle observing the oil pressure gauge reading.

Do not accelerate the engine until the oil pressure is shown by the indicator. The engine oil pressure should be reestablished in about 10 seconds.

Do not run the starter continuously for more than 30 seconds. Should the engine not start within this interval, wait for approximately 1 minute to crank it again.

Check the oil filter for tightness.
