| Remove/install | ||
1 | Remove engine air intake duct downstream of air filter
2 | Disconnect coolant hoses (1) using clamping devices (2) and remove from connection fitting (6) | Mark coolant hoses (1) and capture coolant with a suitable container.
Clamp | |||
3 | Remove charge air pipe downstream of charge air cooler
Warning | Risk of injury to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolantspray. Risk of poisoning from swallowing coolant. | Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.
4 | Remove coolant hoses (3) from connection fitting (6)
Topical note | Notes on coolant
Mark coolant hoses (3) and capture coolant with a suitable container.
5 | Disconnect electrical connector (4) from throttle valve actuator (M166)
6 | Remove screws (5) and remove throttle valve actuator (M16/6) with connection fitting (6) | Installation: Replace both seals on the throttle valve actuator (M16/6).
Bolt, throttle valve actuator to charge air manifold
7 | Install in the reverse order
8 | Perform original initialization of the throttle valve actuator (M16/6) to the ME-SFI control unit using STAR DIAGNOSIS
| Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory | ||
STAR DIAGNOSIS diagnosis system
| |||
Only when installing new throttle valve actuator (M16/6).
Warning | Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. | Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.
9 | Run engine briefly | To bleed the preheating of the throttle valve actuator (M16/6).
10 | Check cooling system for leaktightness
11 | Correct coolant level
