Removal, installation

 Danger!

Fuel presents an explosion hazard , fuel vapors are toxic when inhaled or absorbed. Contact with fuel can cause skin and eye injury.

Fire, open lights and smoking prohibited.
Fill and store fuel only in containers intended for this purpose and marked accordingly.

Wear protective clothing when handling fuel.

Release fuel pressure in fuel distributor with service valve

Remove vacuum line for brake unit

Pull off hoses for crankcase ventilation



On model 210.072 E 50 AMG: Routing of purge line modified

Disconnect vacuum hose from diaphragm pressure regulator

Unscrew fuel supply (17/3) and return line (17/2)

 Catch fuel. Do not unscrew fuel supply and return lines to check injection valves

Disconnect connectors for injection valves (Y62)

Disconnect connector from engine control module (ME-SFI), (N3/10) and connector (arrows)

Remove left ignition coil cover

Expose wiring harness

For this purpose, disconnect all electrical connectors on lines leading to intake manifold over fuel distributor

Unscrew screws (16)

Pull fuel distributor (17) out of intake manifold together with injection valves and thread wiring harness through

Cover holes for injection valves

Replace O-rings (16/8)

 Oil for installation



Testing

Check fuel injection valves (Y62)

See Diagnosis Manual, Engine, Volume 2, Index 3.1

If necessary, after checking: 

Replace injection valves

Reinstall in opposite order
