1 | Open engine hood | ||
2 | Remove air filter housing | ||
3 | Pull engine cover (9) upwards off the cylinder head cover | When placing the engine cover (9), ensure that the seal is correctly seated at the oil filler neck. The seal should not be pressed down by the engine cover (9), but must lie against the engine cover (9). | |
Installation: Only install engine cover (9) after engine test run. | |||
4 | Reduce fuel pressure through service valve | ||

5 | Detach fuel feed line (1) from fuel distributor (2) | Collect escaping fuel. | |

6 | Detach engine wiring harness (3) from intake manifold (4); to do this, unscrew bolts (5) | ||
7 | Unlock the plug (6) on the fuel injection valves (Y62) and remove | ||
8 | Remove bolts (7) | | |
9 | Pull fuel distributor (2) together with fuel injection valves (Y62) evenly off the cylinder head | Installation: Replace sealing rings (8) and wet slightly with liquid lubricant. | |

10 | Install in the reverse order | ||
Danger! | Risk of accident caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the engine as it is running | Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself. | |
11 | Carry out engine test run and check fuel system for leaks |
