Remove

Remove rear cover at cylinder head.

Install retaining lock.

Remove locating pin of retaining lock, rotate engine with retaining lock in direction of engine rotation and set piston of cylinder 1 to top dead center (ignition TDC).

If necessary.

 Markings on camshaft housing (5) must coincide with markings on camshafts (1a, 1b) (arrow).

Block retaining lock with locating pin.

Install hold-down tools (7a, 7b) and tighten screws (6).

Lock camshaft sprockets (3a, 3b) with locking bolts (01).

Unscrew screw (2a).

 Screw (2) has left-hand thread.

Remove camshaft sprocket (3a).

Remove screw (2b).

Remove camshaft sprocket (3b).



Check

Check camshaft sprockets (3a, 3b) for damage.

If damage is present,



Replace camshaft sprocket (3a) or camshaft sprocket (3b).



Install

Lock camshaft sprockets (3a, 3b).

If the camshaft sprockets (3a, 3b) were not locked in advance (e.g. during removal) or the camshaft sprockets (3a, 3b) have been replaced.

Tighten screw (2b).

 Replace screw (2b).

Remove locking bolts (01) from camshaft sprockets (3a, 3b).

Check basic position of camshafts (1a, 1b).
