Remove cylinder head cover

Position piston of cylinder 1 to ignition TDC

 Turn crankshaft in direction of engine rotation.

 TDC marking on belt pulley must be aligned with arrow edge (arrow) at timing case cover.
Cams at cylinder 1 are positioned upright at an angle.

Mark camshaft sprocket (5) and timing chain (7) relative to each other

Check basic position of camshaft, where appl. after check 

Set basic position of the camshaft.

 Installation: Ensure that marking of timing chain (7) is aligned with marking on camshaft sprocket (5), where req. 

Remove chain tensioner (8)

Unscrew bolt (6) and remove camshaft sprocket (5) at camshaft (1), remove timing chain (7)

 Installation:
Replace bolts (6) of camshaft sprocket,
do not reuse. Take into account dowel pin (4). Install camshaft sprocket (5) with mounted timing chain (7).

 Screw/bolt, camshaft sprocket to camshaft

Uniformly release bolts (2) and remove camshaft bearing cap (3)

Mount camshaft bearing cap (3)
at same location.

 During removal of camshaft bearing cap (3), camshaft housing automatically detaches.

 Screw/bolt, camshaft housing to cylinder head

Remove camshaft (1)

 Installation: Oil camshaft bearing points.
Position camshaft (1) in bearing points so that cams at cylinder 1 are positioned upright at an angle.
Observe camshaft assignment. 

Camshaft identification color: white  1, red/purple  2, blue  3, green  4
