Grind

1

Check the need and possibility of grinding the crankshaft (1).

Check the crankshaft necks and determine the degree of repair to be ground.

If the crankshaft shows cracks and/or fissures, replace it.

AR03.20-B-4355B

2

Remove the gear (4) of the crankshaft (1).

If necessary, strike with a plastic hammer.

3.1

Remove the screws (3) and counterweights (2).

Only for a crankshaft with (false) counterweights screwed.

In order to ensure the original positioning, identify the counterweights and their respective positions on the crankshaft.

4

Grind the primary necks of the crankshaft (1).

The diameter of all primary necks should correspond to a single repair level.

Note the matching of the repair level of diameter (A) of the primary neck and the width (C) of the adjustment neck

(A) Standard or standard I - (C) Standard.

(A) Repair I or Repair II - (C) Repair I.

(A) Repair III or Repair IV - (C) Repair II.

6

Wash the crankshaft (1) and remove any burrs and sharp edges from the lubrication holes.

Use diesel fuel or kerosene. Clean the holes with a cylindrical brush.

7

Check the hardness of the primary and connecting rod necks, using an appropriate meter.

Replace the crankshaft in case of hardness lower than prescribed.

*BE03.20-B-1006-02G

8.1

Check the length (L) of the screws (3) securing the counterweights (2).

Only for a crankshaft with (false) counterweights screwed.

Replace the screw (3) if the length (L) is greater than prescribed.

*BE03.20-B-1017-02G

9.1

Mount the counterweights (2) and the screws (3) on the crankshaft (1).

Only for a crankshaft with (false) counterweights screwed.

Install in the correct order and position, note identification made upon removal. Slightly lubricate the thread and the seating face of the screws (3).
